Vikings Roll Past Martin Luther

MANKATO, Minn. –
The Bethany Lutheran baseball team improved to 4-0 in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) action on Tuesday afternoon with a clean sweep of Martin Luther College at the BLC Baseball Field.
 
The Basics:
  • Final Scores:
    • Game one: Bethany Lutheran 10, Martin Luther 1
    • Game two: BLC 10, MLC 0 (7 innings)
  • Overall Record: Bethany Lutheran College 12-11 (4-0 in UMAC) Martin Luther College 4-12 (0-4 in UMAC)
 
GAME ONE:
  • Sophomore Anthony Radloff (Green Bay, Wis.) earned his first mound win of 2017.
    • The lefty threw nine innings while striking out seven batters.
  • Brandyn Olsen (Blue Earth, Minn.) led the offensive attack with three total hits.
    • In the bottom of the fourth inning, Olsen hit his second home run of the season over the wall in left field.
    • The senior finished with three RBI's and two runs scored.
  • John Brown (Lake City, Minn.) and Jordan Grams (Mankato, Minn.) added two hits and three total runs scored.
 
GAME TWO:
  • In a shortened seven inning contest, junior Cody Leitner (Red Wing, Minn.) improved to 3-1 on the hill for BLC. The lefty pitched all seven innings, only giving up four hits while striking out three batters.
  • Olsen continued to shine for the Vikings offensively, finishing with two more hits, two runs scored, and one RBI in the sweep of the Knights.
  • Senior Trent Saharek (San Clemente, Calif.) and Danny Kneeland (Windom, Minn.) also added two hits in the efforts over MLC.
  • Alek Zentzis (Forest Lake, Minn.) sent a fastball over the right field fence for his second of 2017.
  • Brown added a single along with the walk-off double down the left field line in the bottom of the seventh inning to score two runs and improve to 4-0 in conference play.
 
UP NEXT:
The Vikings will return to the BLC Baseball Field on Saturday, April 15th with a conference doubleheader against St. Scholastica. First pitch of the DH is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
