ST. PAUL, Minn. – After two close losses to St. Scholastica on Saturday, the Bethany Lutheran softball team continued the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) portion of its schedule on Tuesday afternoon with a doubleheader at the University of Northwestern.
The Basics:
- Final Scores:
- Game one: Northwestern Eagles 2, Bethany Vikings 1
- Game two: UNW 9, BLC 1
- Overall Record: Bethany Lutheran College 8-20 (2-6 in UMAC), Northwestern 8-16 (4-2 in UMAC)
GAME ONE:
- The Vikings out-hit the Eagles 6-5 but left seven runners on base which proved to be difference in game won.
- Anna Pipenhagen (Elk River, Minn.) pitched six strong innings, allowing one earned run on five hits while striking out seven Eagles.
- Christina Wickingson (Mason, Wis.) and Paige Johnson (Chaska, Minn.) led the hitting attack with two hits apiece.
GAME TWO:
- In game two, BLC compiled seven hits compared to the Eagles nine.
- The Vikings two and three hitters, Pipenhagen and Cindy Pawlitschek (St. Paul, Minn.) each had two hits in three at-bats.
- Katelyn Karels (St. Clair, Minn.) hit her third home run in a Vikings uniform in the top of the fourth inning.
UP NEXT:
The Vikings will now travel to Morris, Minnesota to take on the University of Minnesota-Morris on Thursday, April 13
th. The conference DH will begin at 1 p.m.
