MANKATO, Minn. – The Bethany Lutheran softball team began the week with an Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) doubleheader split against Crown College (2
nd in UMAC, 8-2) on Thursday afternoon at the BLC Softball Field. The Vikings battled, but fell just short in game one. They displayed the same fight in game two, but this time found a different result as the Vikings completed a comeback win in the 10
th inning.

- Current Overall Record: Bethany Lutheran (11-21, 5-7), Crown College (10-20, 8-2)
GAME ONE:
Game one started as an outright pitcher's duel.
Anna Pipenhagen (10-8) continued to pitch well for the Viking's, tossing five strikeouts early in the game. Crown was able to break the tie in the fifth inning by scoring the only three runs of the game. The Vikings finished the game with five hits, but were unable to string anything together for runs.
GAME TWO:
Game two started with early run for both teams. After a Crown home run in the top of the first inning,
Cindy Pawlitschek sent a single up the middle to score
Christina Wickingson in the bottom half of the first. Crown would eventually take a 2-1 lead with another home run in the fourth frame. The Vikings would remain scoreless until the bottom of the seventh inning as
Paige Johnson hit a single to score the tying run that sent us into extra innings. The score would stay knotted up until Crown scored on a wild pitch late in the top half of the 10
th. The Vikings answered with a game winning run as
Katelyn Karels drove in
Megan Westphal on a walk-off RBI single.

The home stand will continue for the BLC softball team as they are set to host University of Wisconsin-Superior (4
th in the UMAC, 6-4) on Saturday, April 22
nd. The first pitch of the doubleheader is scheduled for 1 p.m.
