MANKATO, Minn. – On Saturday afternoon, the Bethany Lutheran baseball team welcomed UW-Superior to the BLC Baseball Field for an Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) doubleheader. The Vikings were able to get the bats going late in game one to win the first of two. The hitting continued in game two to complete the series sweep.

GAME ONE:
Game one started as a pitcher's duel that kept the score at 0-0 into the bottom half of the fifth inning, when
John Brown forced a walk to score a run and take a 1-0 lead. UW-Superior would tie the game up at 1-1 in the seventh inning with a sacrifice fly.
Josh Montbriand joined the party with a single that scored two runs to make it 5-1 in the bottom of the eighth inning. A few batters later,
Brandyn Olsen continued his hot streak with a three run HR to make it an 8-1 game. Olsen threw yet another complete game on the mound to earn his eighth win of the year. The righty gave up just two hits in nine innings of work against the Yellowjackets.
GAME TWO:
In game two the Vikings used momentum from game one to get the bats going early in the contest.
Alek Zentzis came to the plate with two runners on and connected on a pitch that landed on the tennis courts beyond the right field fence. The three run HR was his third of the year and gave the Vikings a 4-1 lead.
Kevin Harris kept the early scoring going with a RBI single in the bottom of the second inning to bring the lead up to 5-0. UW-Superior was able to get a few runs back in the third inning to make the score 5-2, but the Vikings would not be done adding runs, the Vikings they would tally a total of 19 hits and 11 more runs in route to a 16 to 7 victory to complete the sweep of the Yellowjackets.
UP NEXT:
The Vikings will take their five game win streak on the road to North Central's home field in Coon Rapids, MN for a UMAC doubleheader on Wednesday, May 5
th. The Vikings hold the number two spot in the conference and look to hold onto that spot with three more conference games left.
