UMAC Home Opener for BLC Tennis
MANKATO, Minn. – The Bethany Lutheran men's and women's tennis teams welcomed the University of Northwestern and North Central University to the BLC Tennis Courts on Saturday in the home opener for the Vikings.

- Northwestern defeats BLC 5-4 in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) "Game of the Week."
- Women's Tennis:
- Northwestern defeats BLC 9-0 before the Vikings take down North Central 8-1.
- Overall Record:
- Men: 7-10 overall and 1-2 in UMAC.
- Women: 3-12 overall and 3-2 in conference.
MEN'S MATCH VS. NORTHWESTERN: GAME OF THE WEEK:
In the UMAC "Game of the Week" match, the Vikings and Eagles put together an exciting conference match, as the Eagles came away with the close 5-4 victory. In singles competition, UNW won the first three matches before the Vikings stormed back and took No. 4, 5, and 6. Highlighting the single wins was
Carter Dahl (Albert Lea, Minn.),
Jacob Kubler (Shakopee, Minn.), and
Dexter Jackson (Chicago, Ill.).
In doubles, Jackson and Dahl teamed up at the No. 3 position to come away with the lone win for BLC, while the Eagles took the No. 1 and No. 2 match.
WOMEN'S MATCH VS. NORTHWESTERN:
The Eagles remained in the hunt of the first spot in the UMAC standings with the 9-0 victory over Bethany Lutheran. The Eagles improve to 14-4, 4-1 following the match at the BLC Tennis Courts.
WOMEN'S MATCH VS. NORTH CENTRAL:
Alicia Kranz (Arlington, Minn.) started the afternoon match off by defeating her opponent at No. 1 singles [7-6, 7-9, 6-3] for the Vikings. Then,
Denae Walton (Andover, Minn.) [4-6, 6-0, 10-4] and
Ryana Sadaka (Mankato, Minn.) [6-3, 4-6, 10-7] defeated their contenders at No. 2 and No. 3 singles, while
Sabrina Batalden (Anoka, Minn.) grabbed a [6-4, 6-3] win in her match at No. 4 singles.
Megan Braatz (Sun Prairie, Wis.) and
Justine Bennett (River Falls, Wis.) each collected win in their matches at No. 5 and No. 6 singles for BLC. In doubles, North Central picked up the No. 1 victory before teh Vikings earned the 8-4 and 8-5 match wins at No. 2 and No. 3.
UP NEXT:
Both the men's and women's tennis teams will resume conference match play on Tuesday, April 11
th in New Ulm, Minnesota against Martin Luther College. Start time is set for 3 p.m.
