MANKATO, Minn. – The Bethany Lutheran College men's soccer team fell to the Buena Vista University Beavers 4-0 in their season opener.
The Beavers quick pace and concise passing were too much for Bethany as they scored two goals in each half. The first two goals in half one were both by senior midfielder/forward Willy Salamanca.
Both teams came out aggressive early in the second half. The Vikings had some rallies going, but couldn't find the back of the net. The Beavers scored two more goals in the 68th and 80th minute.
A notable performance was set forth by sophomore midfielder Jonathan Sehloff who played aggressive on defense and was constantly stopping Beaver runs at the goal. Sophomore goalkeeper Trenton Krueger played valiantly in his first game with eight saves.
Up Next: The Vikings get their next chance Monday, September 4 at Central College in Pella, Iowa.
