MANKATO, Minn. - The Bethany Lutheran Volleyball team played their first two conference matches and came out with a split. The Vikings first defeated the Rams of North Central 3-1 before losing their second contest to UW-Superior by a tally of 3-0. Â Following the two matches, the Vikings record now moves to 5-7 and they are now 1-1 in UMAC play.Â
In game one, the Vikings had a good attack going outdoing the Rams in terms of kills by a margin of 49-29. Leading the attack for the Vikings was
Megan Rutt and
Rachel Sorensen with 17 and 11 kills respectively.
Anna Nelson recorded 14 digs for the Vikings while
Mackenna Hinz had nine digs and three service aces.
Jasmine Carlson had a good all-around match with 45 set assists, four service aces, and eight digs. In match one, Carlson also eclipsed 1,000 set assists on her career.Â
In game two, the Vikings were defeated by the Yellowjackets who amassed 29 kills in the match in comparison to the Vikings 26. Sorensen led the offense in the second match with eight kills while Rutt and
Alannah Menk tallied six each. Carlson led the team in both set assists and digs with 23 and 14 respectively.
Up Next: The Vikings will travel to the University of Minnesota Morris on Tuesday, September 19, for contests at 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM against the University of Minnesota Morris and Martin Luther College.
