Northfield, Minn. – The Vikings volleyball team finished up their first weekend of play this season by competing against St. Olaf and North Central on day two of the St. Olaf/Carleton Invitational. The Vikings dropped the first contest to the Oles of St. Olaf before defeating North Central in a non-conference match.
Alannah Menk led the way for the Vikings in match one with five kills while Rachel Sorensen and Megan Rutt tallied four each. Jasmine Carlson dished up 17 set assists. Defensively, Anna Nelson and Veeva Lee had nine and eight digs respectively and Natasha Young recorded three blocks.
Megan Rutt and Rachel Sorensen had 20 and 13 kills respectively to lead the Vikings in match two against North Central. Jasmine Carlson had 41 assists over the four sets. The Vikings had 14 service aces with Lee leading the way with four. Defensively, Anna Nelson amassed 19 digs.
Up next: The Vikings will play their home-opener on Wednesday, September 6 when they host Macalester at 8 PM.
