MANKATO, Minn. – As the regular-season winds down, the Vikings are currently tied for 5th place in the UMAC standings which still puts them in the playoff race. The Vikings picked up three points today with a 3-2 win over North Central. The Vikings are tied with Martin Luther and UW-Superior although Bethany has currently played one more game.
The first 45 minutes of the game saw both teams battle back and forth and they went into halftime tied. Shortly after the break, the action picked up as
Bridget Brown scored her third goal of the season for the Vikings in the 46th minute. Her goal was assisted by
Emily Barthel.
Madison Perry scored less than 10 minutes later, assisted by
Bailey Bakken, to give the Vikings a 2-0 lead.
The Rams looked as if they were going to make a comeback after scoring to bring the score to 2-1, but the Vikings responded almost immediately with a goal from Bailey Bakken. The Rams added one more goal, but the Vikings were on top 3-2 when the game ended.
BLC tallied a whopping 28 shots with 18 on goal. The Rams tallied 12 shots with seven on goal.
Zoe Kinakin played in goal for the Vikings and made seven saves to pick up the win.
Up Next: The Vikings play at Northland College in Ashland, WI on Saturday, October 13th at 3:30 PM. The Vikings will be looking to upset the Lumberjills who currently sit in 4th place in the UMAC standings.
