ASHLAND, Wis. – Bethany Lutheran defeated Northland College 3-0 (25-21, 25-22, 25-19) on Saturday afternoon. Now with three matches left in conference play, the Vikings are tied with the College of St. Scholastica in 5th place.
Megan Rutt and
Mindy Poehler led the offensive attack today for the Vikings. Rutt tallied 20 kills on the afternoon and Poehler had 12. The Vikings had a comfortable 17-11 lead in the first set, but the Lumberjills rallied off seven straight points to tie the score. The Vikings were able to regroup and won set one 25-21. The Vikings trailed the Jills 13-18 in set two before stringing together five points and capturing the momentum to eventually win 25-22. Another mid-set run helped the Vikings secure set three for the afternoon sweep.
Kalli Mathiasen had a match-high 38 assists, her second highest total of the season.
Mackenna Hinz had 19 digs to lead the Vikings and
Veeva Lee had 11.
Up Next: The Vikings host Crown College on Tuesday, October 16th. There will be a JV match at 5 PM followed by varsity at 7 PM. The Vikings have beaten Crown twice this year, once in conference play and once in non-conference.
