Mankato, MN. – The Vikings men's soccer team beat the Finlandia University Lions in a shutout victory 3-0. The win puts the Vikings record at 7-7-3.
The Vikings came out scoring early, with a goal by
Edmond Jones in the 9th minute.
Vincent Ayodi also scored a goal in the 35th minute, and
Samuel Duran scored a goal in the 86th minute. Throughout the game, the Vikings were able to outpace the Lions. The Vikings had 10 saves and 6 corner kicks compared to the Lions 5 saves and 1 corner kicks. The Vikings were also much more accurate, with 15 shots, 8 shots on goal, and 3 goals compared to the Lions 17 shots and 10 shots on goal.
The Vikings had great contributions from many players on their roster.
Samuel Duran had 6 shots, 4 shots on goal, and 1 goal. Victor Gonzalez had 3 shots and 1 shot on goal and
Edmond Jones had 2 shots, 1 shot on goal, and 1 goal.
Vincent Ayodi contributed to every goal with 2 assists and 1 goal.
Up next: The Vikings will face the Martin Luther College Knights in their second to last game of the regular season on Wednesday, October 24th at 1:00 P.M. in New Ulm.
