Mankato, MN. – The Vikings volleyball team lost to the St. Scholastica Saints 1-3 (25-22, 16-25, 21-25, 21-25). The loss marks the 17th of the Vikings season and puts their record at 9-17 and their UMAC record at 7-8.
The first set started out close, with both teams going back and forth and neither team was able to grab a lead. But a 9-4 run towards the end of the set put the Vikings over the Saints 25-22. The final three sets were controlled from the start by the Saints. Despite the loss, the Vikings outworked the Saints with 48 kills by the Vikings to 44 kills by the Saints, 6 Vikings aces to 3 Saints aces, and 7 Vikings blocks compared to 2 Saints blocks.
The Vikings were led by
Megan Rutt with 23 kills,
Kalli Mathiasen with 35 assists, and
Haley Domonoske with 4 blocks.
