Box Score 2 Owatonna, Minn. – The BLC men's and women's tennis teams closed out their evening with a pair of wins over the Buena Vista University Beavers. The women earned their first win of the season by beating BVU 6-3 and the men went 2 for 2 on the day with a 5-4 win over the Beavers.
On the women's side, the Beavers were shorthanded against the Vikings. BLC picked up wins by default at the fifth and sixth singles positions along with third doubles. Averi Cash and Fallon Yates each got credit for the wins. Then, Denae Walton had a convincing win at the first singles position by a score of 6-4, 6-2 and Nicole Moldstad picked up a clutch win for the Vikings at the fourth singles spot. Denae Walton and Leah Schaefer teamed up for their first doubles win of the season by a score of 8-1. The Vikings grabbed their first team win of the season by a score of 6-3.
The men played late into the night and earned a hard-fought victory by a score of 5-4. In doubles, Carter Dahl and DJ Jackson continue to be a stellar duo as they won a tough match 9-8 (7-5). Jordan Poff and Alec Cullen earned their first win together at third doubles by a score of 8-2. In singles, Dalton Werckman earned a huge win at number two by a score of 6-3, 6-4. DJ Jackson rolled over his opponent 6-0, 6-1 and Jordan Poff was 2 for 2 in singles play on the day with a win at the number five spot.
Up Next: The Vikings swing into UMAC play next weekend against North Central. The Vikings and Rams will play Saturday, March 24 at 5 PM in Fridley, Minn. at Lifetime Fitness.
