Box Score 2 St. Paul, Minn. - The Bethany softball team was back in action today after dropping two contests yesterday. The Vikings won the first game over Bemidji State by a score of 3-1 and followed that up with a 12 inning, 15-14 victory over Finlandia.
In game one, Bemidji scored first when they scored an unearned run off of
Eden Ambrose in the third inning, the only run she gave up in the contest. The Vikings answered in the fourth when
Taylor Kottke successfully completed a squeeze play to tie the game at one apiece. The game stayed tie at one until the bottom of the seventh, when
Rachel Kurtenbach played the hero for the Vikings. After a double earlier in the inning by
Morgan Mashlan,
Kurtenbach stepped up with two outs and blasted a walk-off two run home run to give the Vikings the victory.
Ambrose started the game on the hill for the Vikings and went all seven innings giving up zero earned runs while allowing just four hits.
The Vikings followed up dramatic victory number one with a shootout in game two versus Finlandia. The Vikings had nine different players make up for a whopping 18 hits in the contest.
Sarah Presler led all Vikings going four for five, scoring four runs, and stealing two bases.
Kaylee Mork also had a solid game going three for five with three runs scored.
UP NEXT: The Vikings look to get outdoors as they are scheduled to host Carleton College on Tuesday, March 27th. The scheduled start times for the games are 3:30 P.M. and 5:30 P.M.
