TUCSON, AZ. – After a day off from competition, the BLC baseball team (4-2) continued play against Rockford University (0-6). The Vikings swept the Regents, winning game one 6-3 and winning game two 6-2.
In game one, the Vikings used back-to-back three run innings to defeat the Regents. Bethany was down 3-0 heading into the fifth before scoring three runs to tie the game. They followed up with another three-run inning in the sixth to win the game.
Kevin Harris went 1 for 3 with one run and two RBIs.
Grant Becher was 2 for 3 with a double,
John Brown was 1 for 4 with a triple and one RBI, and
Ross Beumer was 1 for 2 with two RBIs.
Alex Babcock pitched his second game of the season and picked up his first win. Babcock threw six innings, giving up 10 hits and two earned runs with six strikeouts.
Jacob Duden relieved Babcock in the seventh and picked up the save.
In game two, Bethany grabbed a 1-0 lead in the second inning and never looked back. The Vikings would extend their lead to 3-0 in the sixth and then finished off with three more runs in the seventh.
Nick Caldeen blasted the Vikings first homerun of the season. Caldeen hit a three-run shot in the seventh inning over the left field fence. For the game, Caldeen was 2 for 4 with four RBIs.
Ben Boran was 2 for 3 and
Tim Pasiuk was 1 for 3 with one RBI.
Logan Nissen pitched a complete game and picked up the win. He gave up two hits and two runs and had nine strikeouts.
Up Next: The Vikings will finish off their spring trip with a double-header on Friday against Wheaton College. The first game is scheduled for 3 PM MST.
