Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Roseville, Minn. - The Bethany softball team traveled to Northwestern for UMAC action on Thursday afternoon. The Vikings came up short in both contests losing the first 8-3 and losing the second 8-0 in five innings.

In game one Bethany got off to a hot start after a Sarah Presler single started the game, Anna Pipenhagen followed her with a two-run homerun to center field to give the Vikings the early lead. Northwestern tied the game in the fourth inning, but in the top of the fifth Pipenhagen drove in Presler with a double to give the Vikings a 3-2 lead going into the bottom of the fifth. An issue in both games for the Vikings became defense though as in game one Bethany had four errors which Northwestern took full advantage of to score a bulk of their runs. Northwestern scored 6 unanswered in the fifth and sixth innings to seal the victory. Pipenhagen did the pitching for the Vikings and allowed just two earned runs in the game and struck out nine.
  
In game two Bethany struggled in the field as they had five errors. Pipenhagen and Sydney Kappel pitched the game for the Vikings and allowed just one earned run. Presler led the Vikings at the plate going two for three in the contest.

UP NEXT: The Vikings will play at Crown College on Monday, April 16th with games starting at 3:30 and 5:30 PM.
