MANKATO, Minn. – The BLC men's tennis team will take on the undefeated Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) champions of St. Scholastica in the semi-finals of the UMAC tournament on Wednesday, May 2.
The schedule is set for the UMAC postseason tournament. The St. Scholastica Saints finished the UMAC season with a 7-0 record to earn the regular season championship and the #1 seed in the tournament. The University of Northwestern will be the #2 seed followed by the University of Wisconsin-Superior at #3. The Bethany Vikings earned the #4 seed with a 4-3 UMAC record this season.
The Vikings will travel to Duluth on Wednesday, May 2 with their match against the Saints set to start at 5:15 PM. In their first meeting back on April 7, the Saints defeated the Vikings 8-1. Carter Dahl and Dexter Jackson picked up a win for the Vikings at #2 doubles. The Vikings were competitive at a handful of other spots and just need a little extra juice to come away with the upset on Wednesday. Carter Dahl, Dexter Jackson, and Kenny Johnson all played well at their respective singles positions the first time the two teams met.
Dexter Jackson and Dalton Werckman both finished UMAC play 5-2 at their singles positions and will be looking for strong performances on Wednesday. The Vikings played well at all three doubles positions during UMAC play with Laine Larson/Dalton Werckman and Carter Dahl/Dexter Jackson both going 5-2 at #1 and #2 respectively. Kenny Johnson/Jordan Poff were 4-3 at #3.
