North Mankato, MN. – The Bethany Lutheran College Vikings women's soccer team lost in overtime to the University of Wisconsin-Superior Yellowjackets 2-1, which puts their record at 4-5 and their UMAC record to 1-3.
The first goal of the game was scored by the Yellowjackets in the 19th minute. The game was close and went back and forth between the two teams. Then, the Vikings
Bailey Bakken scored a goal in the 53rd minute off of an assist from
Bridget Brown. Regulation ended in a 1-1 tie, and the two UMAC teams went into overtime. The game winning goal was scored by the Yellowjackets in the 93rd minute. The Vikings kept pace with the Yellowjackets throughout the game, recording 13 shots and 9 shots on goal to the Yellowjackets 14 shots and 9 shots on goal.
The VIkings were led by the duo of
Bailey Bakken and
Bridget Brown. Bailey Bakken had 9 shots, 5 shots on goal, and 1 goal; and
Bridget Brown had 4 shots, 4 shots on goal, and 1 assist.
Up next: The Vikings will face the Yellowjackets in the second game of a back-to-back on Saturday, September 29th in Superior, Wisconsin at 3:00 P.M.
