Superior, Wis. – The Bethany Lutheran Vikings women's soccer team beat the University of Wisconsin-Superior Yellowjackets 2-1 in OT. The win puts the Vikings record at 5-5 and 2-3 in the UMAC conference.
The Vikings went down fairly early, when the Yellowjackets scored a goal in the 23rd minute. The game started to wind down when, in the 64th minute,
Bailey Bakken scored a goal to tie the game up at 1-1. The clock wound down and regulation ended in a 1-1 tie. Then, in the 101st minute,
Bridget Brown scored a goal off a rebound of a free kick. The Vikings were able to work much more efficiently than the Yellowjackets, recording 12 shots and 9 shots on goal compared to the Yellow jackets 19 shots and 13 shots on goal.
The Vikings were led by
Bailey Bakken with 5 shots, 4 shots on goal, and 1 goal.
Bridget Brown shot 3 times, 2 of them were on goal, and had 1 goal.
Mindy Meske also contributed to the game with 3 shots, all of them were on goal.
Up next: The Vikings will face another UMAC opponent, the University of Northwestern Eagles, on Tuesday, October 2nd in St. Paul, MN at 5:00 P.M.
