Morris, MN. – The Vikings volleyball team fell to the University of Minnesota, Morris Cougars 0-3 (18-25, 25-27, 16-25), moving their record to 6-12 and 4-5 in the UMAC conference.
The Vikings started out the first set keeping up with the Cougars. Both teams went back and forth; the Vikings went down by 6, then went on a multi-score run to lower the deficit to 3. However, a late 5-0 run put the Cougars up 23-17. The Cougars would go on to win 25-18. The Vikings would not be able to capture a set, losing 0-3. The Cougars racked up 45 kills to the Vikings 24, 8 blocks to 3, and 40 assists to the Vikings 23.
The Vikings were led by
Megan Rutt with 10 kills,
Kalli Mathiasen with 20 assists, and
Mindy Poehler had 2 blocks.
Up next: The Vikings will face the University of Northwestern Eagles on Tuesday, October 2nd at 7:00 P.M. in St. Paul, MN.
