Grinnell, IA.  – The Bethany Lutheran College Vikings volleyball team lost both of their games on the first day of a weekend series of matches. The sweep moves the Viking's record to 2-4.

 The first match the Vikings played was against the Coe College Kohawks, which they lost 0-3 (20-25, 16-25, 22-25). The Vikings were able to keep it close in the beginning of each set; but multiple scoreless runs, including a 6-0 run when the Vikings had a 3 point lead in the first set, helped push the Kohawks to all of their victories. The Vikings were led in the first match by Megan Rutt who had 10 kills and 30 total attacks.

The second match was against Illinois College 0-3 (11-25, 17-25, 12-25); the win moved Illinois College's record to 3-0 and put Bethany at 2-4.

 Up next: The Vikings continue their weekend games on Saturday, September 8th at 12:00 P.M. against Millikin University and then at 2 p.m. against Central College.
