MANKATO, Minn.—The Bethany Lutheran volleyball team (10-15 overall, 3-4 UMAC) swept Crown (3-15, 0-6) 3-0 (25-14,26-24,25-22) Tuesday. This marked the 35
th straight win for the Vikings in the series.
BLC jumped to an 8-0 lead in the first set as junior Bethany Karnopp (Albuquerque, NM) served in that time span and earned two aces.
The second frame was tighter as the score was tied seven times, which included at 24 all. A kill from senior Megan Rutt (Le Center, Minn.) and freshman Kasidy Cacka (Brownton, Minn.) gave the Vikings the win.
Bethany rallied late in the third set to take the 23-21 lead and later won on a kill and block from senior Haley Domonoske (Waterville, Minn.).
Rutt led all hitters with 18 kills. Cacka and Domonoske joined her in double digits with 10 kills each. Junior Brittany Sanders (St. James, Minn.) had 38 assists and two service aces.
Two players finished in double digit digs as senior Veeva Lee (St. Paul) had 17 and Karnopp recorded a career-high 14.
BLC held the advantage in every team category.
The Vikings conclude their three-game road trip Friday at 5 p.m. against No. 13 Augsburg.
