MINNEAPOLIS, Minn.—The Bethany Lutheran volleyball team (10-16 overall) fell to No. 13 Augsburg (20-4) 3-0 (25-12, 29-27, 25-19) Friday.
The Vikings owned the team advantage in service aces (9-6).
The Auggies jumped to an early lead (7-4) in the first set, which they continued to maintain.
The score of the second frame remained tight as neither team led by more than three points and featured 18 ties, which included for the last time at 27 all. A BLC hitting error and Augsburg kill gave the home team the 2-0 match lead.
The Vikings led 12-9 in the final set until the Auggies compiled a seven-point run to reclaim the lead for good at 16-12.
Senior Megan Rutt (Le Center, Minn.) paced Bethany with 11 kills, eight digs, and added three service aces. Junior Brittany Sanders (St. James, Minn.) had 22 assists and matched Rutt's service aces.
BLC returns to the court Wednesday for its final regular season match against North Central at 7 p.m.
