MINNEAPOLIS, Minn.—The Bethany Lutheran men's soccer team (11-5 overall, 4-2 UMAC) set the single game school record with 10 goals in the 10-0 win over North Central (3-13, 1-5) Wednesday.
The Vikings broke their own mark which was previously set in the season opener against Nebraska Christian on Aug. 31 with eight goals.
With the win, BLC has qualified for the UMAC Conference Tournament for the first time since 2015.
Freshman Max Busch (Odenthal, Germany) had three goals while classmate Marcel Campabadal (Vilassar de Mar, Catalonia, Spain) and senior Samuel Duran (Marshall, Minn.) followed with two each.
Freshman Philip Ronza (Blaine, Minn.) made two saves to earn the shutout in the net.
The Vikings owned the advantage in shots (36-6) and corner kicks (5-2).
Freshman Joao Bastos (
Piracicaba, Brazil) gave BLC the early lead with his goal just two minutes into the game. Busch doubled the lead with his score at 12:05 before Duran tallied the next two for the 4-0 lead heading into halftime.
The Vikings added six in the second half, which included two consecutive goals by Campabadal.
