SUPERIOR, Wis.— The Bethany Lutheran volleyball season ended Monday in the 3-0 sweep ((25-19,25-12,25-18) by UW-Superior in the quarterfinal of the UMAC Tournament. The Vikings end the season 11-17.
In the first two sets, the Yellowjackets jumped to early leads which they did not relinquish. The score of the third frame remained close as neither team led by more than two points and included seven ties. The last time the score was knotted was at 14 all. UW-Superior then won six-straight points to regain the lead for good.
Senior Megan Rutt (Le Center, Minn.) and freshman Alexis Morsching (Morristown, Minn.) co-led the Vikings with 11 kills each. Rutt ends her career ranked third in kills (1,326) as she is just the third player in program history to surpass 1,000 career kills.
Junior Brittany Sanders (St. James, Minn.) recorded 29 assists as she ran the offense to finish with 644 for the year, which ranks 10
th best for a season. She added one service ace to have 44 total this season, which is tied for eighth-best.
Senior Veeva Lee (St. Paul) had 16 digs which brought her career total to 883, which ranks sixth best on the program's leader list.
