TUCSON, AZ – The Vikings picked up win number one and two against Nebraska Wesleyan University on Wednesday. The Vikings were hot offensively and defeated the Prairie Wolves 18-7 in game one and 16-8 in game two.
The Vikings produced a steady stream of runs all game with their biggest output coming in the sixth and final inning as they scored five. The Vikings tallied 18 hits total with a couple of bombs by Ben Boran and Tim Pasiuk. Multiple Vikings recorded multiple hits as Grant Becher went 3-5, Nick Caldeen 3-5, Ross Beumer 2-2, Boran 2-5, Cody Ulfers 2-2, Tim Pasiuk 2-2, and Jake LaBerge 2-3.
Logan Nissen pitched six strong innings giving up four hits and four runs with seven strikeouts. Connor Side finished the game with four hits and three earned runs in one inning of work.
The Vikings went wild in game two, scoring 10 runs in the first inning. They recorded a trio of doubles from Ulfers, Tommy Gannon, and Beumer. The Vikings didn't let up and added six more runs to their total to win by a score of 16-8. Ross Beumer was terrific, going 4-6 with four RBIs. Nick Caldeen was 1-3 with three RBIs and Jared Gesell was 2-3 with three RBIs.
Colton Blain got the win for the Vikings in five innings of work with seven hits, five runs, and four strikeouts.
