St. Paul, MN. – The Vikings end their St. Paul trip with an even 1-1 split, losing to Bemidji State University (10-2) and then winning against Finlandia University (8-4). The two games set the Vikings at 2-2 for their St. Paul trip and puts their overall record 10-7.
To start off, the Vikings held their second game in a back-to-back against the Bemidji State University Beavers. The Vikings found themselves down early, as the Beavers scored two runs off of a pop up out. The Vikings went three up and three down to end the first inning down 2-0. The Beavers would score two runs in the next inning, but the Vikings would be able to make a small push as
Eden Ambrose hit a home run to left, ending the second inning with a 4-1 score. The Vikings would have no answer to the Beavers 12 combined hits though, losing 10-2.
The Vikings would fare better to start their second game against the Finlandia Lions, scoring two runs in the first inning. The Vikings would be able to run up to an 8-0 lead, until the Lions scored their first points in the bottom of the fourth. The Lions would try to make a comeback, but the Vikings would be able to hold them off 8-4.
Shelby Bloemendaal,
Haylee Sobrero, and
Taylor Kottke all ended the game with to runs, and
Haylee Sobrero had 4 RBI's in 4 at bats.
Up next: The Vikings will take on the University of Minnesota Morris Cougars in Morris, MN on Saturday, March 30th at 1 p.m.
