Mankato, MN. – The Bethany Lutheran College Vikings lost both of their games against Gustavus Adolphus College, losing the first game 8-1 and the second game 6-2.
In the first game, the Vikings got off to a good start. They were able to keep Gustavus to just one hit. They were even able to turn a double play to end the first inning. Then, in the second inning, Gustavus was able to take advantage of three hits and a Viking error to score 5 runs as they held the Vikings to no runs to end the inning. The Vikings would score for the only time in the bottom of the third, as
Nick Caldeen hit a single and batted in
Ross Beumer. The game would end after 7 innings with a score of 8-1.
The Vikings would fare better in the second game. The first score wouldn't come until the third inning, by the end of which the Vikings were up 2-1, thanks to RBI's by
Grant Becher and
Ross Beumer. However, Gustavus would answer in the next inning by scoring four runs to bring their lead to 5-2. The Vikings would lose the final game 6-2.
