Mankato, MN. – The Vikings went 1-1 against Bethel University. They won the first game with a score of 6-3, and they lost the second game with a score of 4-5. The split puts the Vikings record at 5-10.
The first game started out well, as Bethany scored three runs through the first two innings. Bethel would come back in the next two, and by the end of the fourth inning the score was tied at 3. However, Bethany would score the deciding runs in the 5th and 6th innings, off of hits by
Brady Schuster,
Ben Boran, and
Ross Beumer. The Vikings would hold an 11-6 hit advantage over Bethel.
In the next game, the Vikings would fall behind early with a 2-1 defecit after two innings. The Vikings would tie the score in the third, Bethel would take another lead in the fourth, and the Vikings would tie the game again in the fifth. Bethel would rally late in the game to go up 5-3, and an RBI by
Ben Boran would not prove enough for the Vikings to tie again, losing 5-4.
Up next: The Vikings will play three games against Simpson College in the span of two days. The first two will take place on Saturday, March 30th starting at 3 p.m. in Mankato, MN.
