Ashland, WIS. – Bethany softball took both games in a double header against Northland College. The Vikings dominated in both games, winning the first one 10-1 and the second game 15-2. The wins puts the Vikings record at 18-9 and they keep their perfect UMAC record, going 8-0.
The first game would start off when
Courtney Williams hit a two-run homerun in the top of the second inning. It would stay quite until the fourth, when
Jenna Reynolds,
Anna Hoffman, and
Shelby Bloemendaal all batted in runs, and put the Vikings up 6-0. Northland would get on the board in the bottom of the fourth, scoring one run, but the Vikings would answer by scoring 4 runs in the fifth, putting the final score at 10-1.
The Vikings came out prepared in the second game, as they scored 6 runs, in part because of a wild pitch and an error by Northland. In the second inning,
Jasmine Bejarano would bat in
Haylee Sobrero and put the score at 7-0. The Vikings would put the final scores on the board in the fourth inning, as they scored 8 runs, 7 of those were with two outs. The Vikings would end the fourth with 8 runs and 7 hits, and they would win the game 15-2.
Courtney Williams continues to have a wonderful season, recording 4 runs and 4 runs batted in during the Wisconsin double header. In her last four games,
Courtney Williams has earned 14 RBIs and 7 runs, as well as hitting three homeruns, all multi-run hits.
Up next: The Vikings come back home to host a double header against the Martin Luther College Knights on Wednesday, April 17th. The first game begins at 3:30 p.m.
