Softball Dominates on Senior Day

Mankato, MN.  – The Vikings softball team continues their dominant run in the UMAC conference by beating the Martin Luther College Knights in both games of a double header, winning 7-6 and 7-4. The win makes six in a row and puts the Vikings record at 20-9. Their win also keeps both their UMAC and home record perfect, 6-0 and 10-0 respectively.

The first game would start in a deadlock, with both teams scoring one run in the first inning. The Knights would score two more runs in the third inning and take a 3-1 lead. The Vikings would stay behind until the bottom of the fifth, when Haylee Sobrero, Eden Ambrose, and Shelby Bloemendaal all batted in runs, and the Vikings would go up 4-3. The Knights would answer back in stride though, scoring three more runs in the next inning to go up 6-4. Zoe Kinakin would have a two RBI single, and the Vikings tied the game 6-6. The game would end with a RBI from Jasmine Bejarano in the bottom of the seventh, and the Vikings would take a close 7-6 victory.

The second game would start out fairly similarly, with the Knights taking a quick 3-0 lead. The Vikings would stay down, and in the bottom of the fourth they were facing a 4-1 deficit. Then, Kendra Porath, Anna Hoffman, Jasmine Bejarano, and Haylee Sobrero all hit RBI's to give the Vikings their final 7-4 score.

Up next: The Vikings face two games against the North Central University Rams in Minneapolis, MN on Tuesday, April 23rd with the first game beginning at 1:30 p.m.
