Mankato, MN. – The Bethany Lutheran College Vikings won both of their games against Crown College, winning the first game 4-3 and the second game 6-4.
The first game began slowly, staying scoreless through the first four innings. Then, in the top of the fifth, Crown scored a three-run homerun with one out. Bethany would score one run in the bottom of the fifth, then, in the sixth inning
Nick Caldeen hit a two-run homerun to tie the game at 3-3. Two innings later, in the eighth,
Ross Beumer would hit a sacrifice fly to allow
Conner Side to score and have the game end at 4-3.
Schuster started the second game by hitting a triple and batting in three runs in the first inning. Crown would attempt to fit back, scoring a run in each of the next two innings, but anytime Crown got close, the Vikings would score another run to secure their lead. After the bottom of the seventh inning, the Vikings found themselves up 6-2. Crown would start to comeback in the ninth inning, but it wouldn't be enough, and the Vikings would win 6-4.
Up next: The Vikings travel to Ashland, WIS to play a double header against Northland College on Saturday, April 20th. Game one begins at 1:30 p.m.
