Vikings win big over Lumberjacks

MANKATO, MN – The BLC Vikings swept the Northland College Lumberjacks in two UMAC games on Saturday. The games were originally supposed to be played in Northland, but instead turned into home games for the Vikings due to field conditions in Ashland. The Vikings dominated in game one, winning 25-0 and then finished the sweep with an 11-5 win in game two.

Ben Boran scored the first run of the game for the Vikings in the top of the first. Then, in the top of the third, the Vikings put up 10 runs to take control of the game. Ben Boran hit a two-run homer during that stretch with Brent Fowler, Grant Becher, Nick Caldeen, Tom Gannon, Ross Beumer, Cody Ulfers, and Brady Schuster all contributing runs. Tim Pasiuk homered in the sixth inning and the Vikings cruised to a 25-0 win in seven innings. Dallas McBroom picked up a win for the Vikings in four innings of work, giving up zero runs and just one hit with eight strikeouts.

Game two was tighter through three innings with the Vikings holding a 2-1 lead, but a seven run outburst in the fourth widened the gap in favor of BLC. Tom Gannon started the rally with a sac-fly to score Brady Schuster. The last run of the rally came on a sac-fly by Connor Side which scored Nick Caldeen. Ben Boran went 4-6 in the game with a double and two RBIs. Cody Ulfers was 3-6 with two runs and two RBIs. Adam Fjerstad got the win for the Vikings in four innings of work, giving up seven hits and one run with seven strikeouts.
