Mankato, MN. – The Bethany Lutheran College Vikings baseball team was swept by St. Olaf College, losing the first game 16-7 and the second game 14-2. The loses moves the Vikings record to 16-15 and their home record to 11-7.
St. Olaf got off to a hot start in their first game, scoring si runs right away in the first inning. Bethany would try to answer back, but they'd only be able to score two runs: the first when
Nick Caldeen doubled to right for an RBI, and the second when
Grant Becher doubled to left and batted
Nick Caldeen in. The Vikings would continue to put up some offense, and going into the fourth inning they were only down 4-3. Then, St. Olaf would fight back, scoring 7 runs in two innings. The Vikings wouldn't be able to overcome that run, and they would fall 16-7.
The Vikings would start off the second game a little better, holding a 1-0 lead through the first three innings. St. Olaf would then score 9 runs in the fourth inning. The Vikings would hold off any St. Olaf offense for a while, but they would score another run in the sixth inning. St. Olaf would continue to mount a lot of offense, and they won the second game 14-2.
