Menomonie, WI. – The Bethany Lutheran College Vikings Softball team got suffered a sweep to the University of Wisconsin-Stout Blue Devils, losing the first game 1-4 and the second game 4-9. The losses puts the Vikings record to 14-9. They keep their perfect 4-0 UMAC record.
The Vikings found themselves down early in the first game. After a two hit, no run first inning by the Vikings, the Blue Devils scored four runs in the bottom of the first. From there, the Vikings and the Blue Devils would hold each other in a stalemate, with neither team scoring until the top of the fifth inning, when the Vikings scored their only run when Haylee Sobrero hit a home run to left field. The Vikings would go on to lose the game 4-1.
The second game started much better for the Vikings, as they scored two runs right away in the first inning. The Vikings would hold that lead until the third inning, when the Blue Devils would score five runs and take a 2-5 lead. The Vikings would score two more runs in the seventh, and the Blue Devils would take the 9-4 victory.
Up next: The Vikings will host a double header on Tuesday, April 9th against Crown College, with the first game scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
