Mankato, MN. – The Bethany Lutheran College Vikings Softball team swept Crown College, winning the first game 11-6 and the second game 9-6. The wins move the Vikings record to 16-9 and they keep their undefeated UMAC streak, going 6-0 through the season.
The Vikings started off hot in the first game, after shutting out Crown in the top of the first, the Vikings would go on to score six runs, including a three-run homerun by
Courtney Williams. The Vikings would score again in the second, when
Courtney Williams hit another three-run homerun. The game would stay a 9-0 Vikings lead until the fourth, when Crown two runs. They would score again in the fifth and the seventh, but it wouldn't be enough to top the Vikings, who won 11-6.
The Vikings would score again in the first inning of the second game, but, by the bottom of the fifth, they'd find themselves down 6-1. Then, the Vikings would rally for 7 points, including a grand slam by
Courtney Williams. The Vikings would finish the game with a 9-6.
Courtney Williams had a phenomenal outing, scoring 3 runs, hitting just as many homeruns, and batting in 10 RBI's.
Up next: The Vikings travel to Ashland, WI to play in a double header against Northland College, with the first game starting at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 13th.
