PLATTEVILLE, Wis.- The Bethany Lutheran volleyball team (4-9 overall) fell 3-1 to both Augustana (Ill.) and host-UW-Platteville Saturday.
Against Augustana, BLC claimed the first set 25-13. Augustana then won the next three-straight, 25-16, 25-20, and 25-15.
Senior Megan Rutt (Le Center, Minn.) led all hitters with 12 kills. Junior Brittany Sanders (St. James, Minn.) had a double-double with 16 assists and 10 digs. Senior Kalli Mathiasen (St. Cloud, Minn.) had 14 assists and classmate Veeva Lee (St. Paul) had 21 digs.
A similar story rang true in the finale as the Vikings won the opening set 26-24, before the Pioneers claimed the next three frames, 25-14, 25-19, and 25-18.
Rutt led the team with nine kills. Sanders tallied 16 assists, three service aces and eight digs.
BLC is off from competition until next Friday when it hosts Martin Luther at 7 p.m. in a nonconference match.
