MANKATO, Minn.—The Bethany Lutheran men's soccer team (6-2 overall) won its fifth-straight to set the single season winning streak record in the 5-1 win over Buena Vista (1-4-3) Wednesday night. The previous mark of four had been achieved in three previous seasons: 2007, 2010, and 2013.

The Beavers were the first team on the scoreboard as their shot attempt bounced in at 11:06. Freshman Joao Bastos (Piracicaba, Brazil) then scored his first of career-high two goals on the night at 16:50 as he capitalized on the rebound.
Classmate Luuk Oosterbosch (Veldhoven, The Netherlands) connected on a pass from freshman Chris Quintero (Quincy, Wash.) and junior Vincent Ayodi (Nairobi, Kenya) at 22:47 to take the 2-1 lead. Bastos tallied his final goal at 26:31 as his shot went off the crossbar and in.
Freshman Liam Peterson (Port Orchard, Wash.) completed the high scoring half with his score at 33:35 as took advantage of heavy traffic in front of the net to give BLC the 4-1 lead at halftime.
Classmate Marcel Campabadal (Vilassar de Mar, Catalonia, Spain) headed a pass from Oosterbosch into the left side of the goal for the final score of the night.
Freshman keeper Miguel De La Cruz Cabello (Toledo, Spain) earned the win in the net and made four saves.
