MANKATO, Minn.—The Bethany Lutheran volleyball team (6-12 overall, 1-1 UMAC) swept Northland (6-10, 0-1) Saturday afternoon. The Vikings won 25-11, 25-18 and 25-23. This marked the 14-straight win in the series.
Junior Brittany Sanders (St. James, Minn.) had a career-high seven service aces and was one shy of the school record. She added 21 assists and four digs.
Freshman Alexis Morsching (Morristown, Minn.) had a team-best 10 kills and .391 hitting percentage.
Seniors Veeva Lee (St. Paul) and Megan Rutt (Le Center, Minn.) had double digit digs with 15 and 11, respectively.
The Vikings jumped to early leads in the first two sets, which they never relinquished. A different story rang true in the final frame as the LumberJills led 17-11. BLC answered with an 8-2 run to knot the score at 19 all. The set was tied three more times which included 23-23. A Northland attack error and Morsching kill sealed the win for the Vikings.
As a team, BLC owned every statistical category and held the Jills to a team hitting percentage of .048.
Bethany concludes its three-game home stand Wednesday when it hosts Waldorf at 7 p.m.
