ASHLAND, Wis. – Bethany Lutheran record a school-record 127 digs in the 3-2 loss to Northland Saturday. The previous mark was 121 which was set against Northland on April 3, 2021.
Seven players had double digit digs for the Vikings. Freshman Maddi Wendland (Arco, Minn.) had 23, classmates Megan Gallagher (Jackson, Minn.) and Esther Peeters (Maasbree Limburg, The Netherlands) each had 19, junior Amia Broughten (Waseca, Minn.) had 18, senior Sarah Strom (North Mankato, Minn.) had 16, classmate Arissa Wilson (Eyota, Minn.) had 14, and junior Alexis Morsching (Morristown, Minn.) finished with 13.
The teams traded sets as the Vikings won the first and third sets and the LumberJills claimed the second and fourth to force a deciding frame.
Morsching led the team with 18 kills, and Strom joined her in double figures with a career-high 16.
Gallagher (Jackson, Minn.) had a career-high eight kills and 48 assists.
Freshman Maddi Wendland (Arco, Minn.) tallied 23 digs, and junior Amia Broughten (Waseca, Minn.) completed those in double digits with 11 digs.
BLC owned the team advantages in kills, hitting percentage, assists, and digs.
The Vikings return to action Tuesday at home against North Central at 7 p.m.
