MANKATO, Minn. – The Bethany Lutheran women's soccer team (11-5, 8-3) defeated Minnesota Morris (6-10, 6-5) 2-1 Saturday afternoon.
The Cougars were the first team on the board with their early goal at 6:38. Freshman Noa Txintxurreta (Algorta, Spain) netted the equalizer as she placed a left-footed shot into the back of the net at 23:31. Classmate Ashley Casper (Petaluma, Calif.) fed her the ball into the box for the assist.
Sophomore Lexi Kaufman (Fairmont, Minn.) scored the eventual game-winner as she connected on a pass from senior Maddie Perry (Anoka, Minn.) and beat a diving goalie at 39:29.
Defensively, the Vikings were able to hold Minnesota Morris to just one shot on goal in the second half.

Bethany owned the advantage in shots (16-6), shots on goal (7-3) and corner kicks (7-2).
Both teams will have a short turnaround to conclude the season series, as the second game will be played in Morris on Monday at 6 p.m.
