MANKATO, Minn.—The Bethany Lutheran volleyball team (1-1 overall, 1-1 UMAC) swept Martin Luther (2-2, 0-2) 3-0 Thursday night. Bethany won 26-24, 25-22, and 26-24.
The Knights led the first set 24-17, until BLC scored nine consecutive points for the comeback win.
The Vikings jumped to an 11-5 lead in the second frame, but runs by MLC later knotted it at 22 all. Bethany capitalized on three Knights hitting errors to take the 2-0 match lead.
In the third set, MLC was able to fight off three match points as it tied it at 24 all. A kill from sophomore Kasidy Cacka (Brownton, Minn.) and a Knights attack error sealed the sweep.
Sophomore Alexis Morsching (Morristown, Minn.) had a team-high 11 kills and Cacka followed with 10.
Sophomore Cheyenne Owens (Truman, Minn.) tallied a career-high 20 assists and career-best nine digs. Freshman Destiny Sybounheuan (Mountain Lake, Minn.) added 10 assists.
The Vikings held the team advantages in kills, hitting percentage, assists, service aces, and blocks.
Bethany returns to the court Saturday when it travels to face Minnesota Morris at 1 p.m.
