MANKATO, Minn. – Three Bethany Lutheran (2-4 overall, 2-4 UMAC) players recorded career-high kills in the 3-1 win over Crown (0-7, 0-5) Thursday.
Sophomore Alexis Morsching (Morristown, Minn.) had 15 kills, classmate Kasidy Cacka (Brownton, Minn.) finished with 14, and junior Kaylee Glomstad (Montevideo, Minn.) had 12. Glomstad also touted a career-best .647 hitting percentage.
Cacka had a team-best 13 digs to finish with a double double.
The Storm won the opening set 25-21, but the Vikings claimed the next three 25-10, 25-12, and 25-19.
In the second set, senior Bethany Karnopp (Albequerque, NM) served the first 12 points to help BLC to the 12-0 lead. Sophomore Karlee Theisse (Welcome, Minn.) later served for four-straight points.
Strong serving continued in the third frame as sophomores Amia Broughten (Waseca, Minn.) and Cheyenne Owens (Truman, Minn.) each served five consecutive points. Junior Arissa Wilson (Eyota, Minn.) served the last five points to seal the set win.
Owens tallied 36 assists. Karnopp and Wilson had 11 and 10 digs, respectively. Karnopp and Thiesse each had four service aces.
As a team, the Vikings owned the advantages in kills, hitting percentage, assists, service aces, and digs.
Bethany is off from competition until Wednesday, March 31 when it travels to face North Central at 7 p.m.
