MANKATO, Minn.—The Bethany Lutheran volleyball team fell 3-0 (25-19, 25-21, 25-20) in its season opener to St. Scholastica Saturday.
The Vikings compiled late rallies in all three sets, but the Saints were able to hold off the comebacks.
Sophomore Kasidy Cacka (Brownton, Minn.) had a team-high nine kills and classmate Alexis Morsching (Morristown, Minn.) followed with seven.
Sophomore Cheyenne Owens (Truman, Minn.) tallied a career-high 16 assists and two service aces. Freshman Destiny Sybounheuan (Mountain Lake, Minn.) had 14 assists in her collegiate debut.
The Vikings held the team advantages in kills and assists.
Bethany returns to the court Thursday when it hosts Martin Luther at 7 pm.
