MORRIS, Minn. -- The Bethany Lutheran softball team (14-12 overall, 6-1 UMAC) swept Minnesota Morris (9-19, 5-7) Saturday. The Vikings won the opener 10-7 in eight innings and the finale, 6-5.
The first meeting was tied seven all after seven. Senior Alyssa Kosta (Redding, Calif.) drove in two on her double to left, and then scored on the next batter, freshman Ana Christofferson's (Mankato, Minn.) triple to left to give BLC the 10-7 lead. Sophomore Katelyn Halbach (Osage, Iowa) had a career-high four hits. Kosta was 3-4 with four RBI and three runs.
Â
In the finale, Minnesota Morris took the 2-0 lead in the first, and sophomore Emma Young (Mankato, Minn.) drove in senior Eden Ambrose (Hugo, Minn.) to make it a one-run game.
Â
The Vikings used a four-run third inning, which included a two-run single from junior Zoe Kinakin (Victoria, British Columbia), to make it 5-2.
Â
The Cougars tallied three in the fourth to even it at five all. Sophomore Liz Milam (Le Sueur, Minn.) scored the go-ahead run in the sixth on Halbach's single to short.
Â
UMM was retired in order in its last two at-bats to seal the sweep.
