Vikings Set Single-Match School Record in Digs

ASHLAND, Wis. – The Bethany Lutheran (3-5 overall, 3-5 UMAC) set a new single-match school record with 121 digs in the 3-2 loss to Northland (4-6, 4-3) Saturday. This surpassed the previous record of 115 set against Presentation on Oct. 28, 2006, and Buena Vista on Oct. 16, 2019.

The Vikings won the even numbered sets (25-21, 25-23) and the LumberJills won the odd numbered sets (28-26, 25-11, 15-8).

Sophomores Alexis Morsching (Morristown, Minn.) and Kasidy Cacka (Brownton, Minn.) led the team with 15 and 11 kills, respectively.

Classmate Cheyenne Owens (Truman, Minn.) tallied 41 assists as she ran the team's offense.

Cacka and junior Arissa Wilson (Eyota, Minn.) co-led the team with 20 digs. Morsching, Owens, and senior Bethany Karnopp (Albuquerque, NM) all had 17 digs.

Sophomore Karlee Thiesse (Welcome, Minn.) finished with 10 to complete those in double digits.

As a team, the Vikings owned the advantages in kills, service aces, and digs.

BLC has earned the sixth-seed in the UMAC Tournament, and will host seventh-seed Martin Luther in a UMAC Tournament Consolation Semifinal Thursday, April 8 at 7 p.m.
