ST. PAUL, Minn. – Conference leader Northwestern (23-8 overall, 11-1 UMAC) claimed both games in the twinbill Friday over Bethany Lutheran (7-13, 5-4). The Eagles won 12-1 in seven innings and 3-1 in the second game.
In the opener, UNW plated three in the second on a three-run homer and tallied seven in the third to jump to a 10-0 lead. The Eagles scored their final two runs in the fourth.
Junior Carter Wendlandt (Minneapolis) put the Vikings on the board as sophomore Alec Gratz (Mankato, Minn.) scored on the single to short.
In the finale, Northwestern took the early 1-0 lead in the first, but BLC evened it in its next at-bats on a sac fly from freshman Ben Hopper (North Mankato, Minn.).
The Eagles added one in the fourth and one in the sixth for the final runs of the day.
BLC returns to the field tomorrow when it travels to face Minnesota Morris at 1:30 p.m.
