Box Score DULUTH, Minn.-- The Bethany Lutheran softball team (19-16 overall) fell 5-2 to Northwestern Thursday to open the UMAC Tournament.
 
Junior Zoe Kinakin (Victoria, British Columbia) gave the Vikings the early lead as she hit a triple and later scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the first.
 
The Eagles tied it in the third on a two-out single. The next batter hit an RBI double to take the 2-1 lead.
 
Northwestern added to its margin in the fifth on an RBI double and capitalized on a fielding error to push it to 4-1.
 
Senior Alyssa Kosta (Redding, Calif.) answered in the bottom of the frame as her sac fly plated sophomore Katelyn Halbach (Osage, Iowa) which made it 4-2.
 
In the top of the seventh, the Eagles added an insurance run to for the 5-2 lead.
 
Senior Eden Ambrose (Hugo, Minn.) and Kinakin each went 2-3.
 
Bethany will face fourth-seed Northland later today in an elimination game.
