Bethany Lutheran Claims Season Opener

Box Score NEW ULM, Minn. -- The Bethany Lutheran men's soccer team defeated Martin Luther 7-1 to open the season Wednesday. This game also counts in the conference standings, as the UMAC slate now features a true double round-robin format.

Junior Max Busch (Odenthal, Germany) led the Vikings with three goals on the day. This marked the third-straight contest he tallied at least a hat trick in the series against the Knights.

BLC's seven goals tied the mark for the most goals scored in a game against MLC.

Bethany led 4-1 at halftime. With his first score of the game, Busch now stands atop the career leader list in game-winning goals. He was tied at nine with Joe Nuah (2008-11) entering the season.
