ST. PETER, Minn. -- The Bethany Lutheran volleyball team fell 3-0 to Gustavus in its season opener Wednesday. The Gusties won 25-8, 25-11, 25-14. Gustavus received votes in the AVCA preseason top 25 poll.

In her first match as a Viking, Morgan Goettlicher (Le Sueur, Minn.) led the team with six kills. Junior Alexis Morsching (Morristown, Minn.) followed with five kills.
 
In their collegiate debuts, freshmen Megan Gallagher (Jackson, Minn.) and Paloma Garcia De Fuentes (Valladolid, Spain) tallied seven and six assists, respectively as they ran the team's offense.  
 
Freshman Maddi Wendland (Arco, Minn.) had six digs while Garcia De Fuentes had five.
 
BLC continues its two-week road trip as it travels to compete in Macalester's tournament this weekend.
